Get to Know Danielle
Hi! My name is Danielle Cwirko-Godycki. I’m running for San Mateo City Council to represent District 4, which includes the neighborhoods of Harbortown, Laguna Vista, Lakeshore, Los Prados, Mariner’s Green (MGA 1-3), Mariner’s Island, Parkside, and Shoreview.
After personally experiencing the devastating impacts of city-wide flooding on New Year’s 2023, I realized that more needs to be done to protect and enrich the lives of citizens across San Mateo, especially in District 4.
This led me to launch and lead the Shoreview-Parkside Neighborhood Association, which exposed me to the many urgent needs of our community. I had the opportunity to meet amazing people from all walks of life in District 4, all of whom are eager to have a strong voice on the City Council.
I’ve walked door-to-door to meet hundreds of residents in every district of San Mateo. It’s clear to me that people want honest, transparent leadership in City Hall working on day-to-day, real-world challenges. This is why my campaign is focused on three key issues:
- Infrastructure and Public Safety
- Community Empowerment
- Responsible, Community-Centered Development
I was born and raised in San Mateo and have lived in our Village and Shoreview neighborhoods for most of my life. I attended Fiesta Gardens International School, sparking a life-long education in Spanish, which I continued studying throughout college. I next went to Bayside Academy and Aragon High School before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of California, Riverside.
I’ve spent my entire professional career working in human resources and recruiting roles at public relations and technology companies, with an emphasis on technical and executive recruiting for design positions. I’ve also helped develop and manage programs to ensure our recruiting processes connect people from all backgrounds to career-defining opportunities.
